Bonnie Prudden Myotherapy® is a safe, gentle and easy to learn technique to relieve chronic muscle related pain and/or disfunction by locating and deactivating trigger points.

"Myotherapy:  A method for relaxing muscle spasm, improving circulation, and alleviating pain. The therapist applies finger pressure to "trigger points," usually in the muscle tissue or area surrounding joints. The success of this method, developed by Bonnie Prudden in 1976, depends on the use of specific corrective exercise of the freed muscles."

Passive stretching and corrective exercises are an essential part of Bonnie Prudden Myotherapy® to achieve pain relief for common symptoms (noted above). While range of motion and strengthening exercises are stressed for pain prevention.

Passive stretching (therapist gently assist patient after treating trigger points). This helps the patient understand how to properly use the corrective exercises.

Corrective exercises (for patients at home, between trigger point treatments) are key components of Bonnie Prudden Myotherapy®.

Kraus-Weber testing is taught to determine a patient’s minimum level of muscle fitness (pass/fail test). Failing this test identifies muscle weaknesses in the key posture muscles, indicating susceptibility to back problems. With the weaknesses identified, simple corrective exercises are taught to strengthen these muscles.

Self-help exercise for massage therapists and other health care workers is also stressed. Participants are taken through a series of exercises which can be implemented into their daily routine in be used as a preventative measure to keep muscles healthy and pain free.

¢

We believe that learning and understanding benefits greatly by our hands-on approach. We’ll guide you through Myotherapy with step-by-step instruction.

¢

Learning is enhanced by working on a variety of other participants, each with different needs. Myotherapists seek to understand a patient's history of muscle related pain, using it to as a guide to develop a treatment plan.  Understanding the unique needs of the individual is very important for Bonnie Prudden Myotherapy®.

¢

Our hands-on approach is designed to give the seminar participants the confidence to begin incorporating this the Bonnie Prudden Myotherapy® into their existing practice.
